The Mighty Rickshaw Run Winter 2009 is a coming.

By Andy Place

The Winter Run will pit you and your three wheeled tin can against pretty much everything the sub continent can throw at you, and that is a lot. From dehydration in the desert to altitude sickness in the hills, this is set to be an absolute beastie!

The 5th chapter of the mighty Rickshaw Run will start in Pondicherry on January 1st 2009 and will finish some two weeks later in the hill station of Shillong. Although not the only way, you'll notice that passing through Bangladesh is an enticing option for the adventurists...

But before you go any further, be forewarned that this is a beastie for a reason – it’s really rather dangerous and should not be taken lightly! Now that’s out of the way, read on for details of how you nag yourself a place – they tend to get snapped up pretty sharpish these days.

The day for your diary is February 28th. We will be opening up shop at 14:00 GMT on February 28th. Demand for the places is high and we can’t guarantee entry but in order to try and make this fair, you will have a 24 hour period to register interest on the website. Make sure you have a user account set up and once it hits the hour of two on the 28th, log in and press ‘sign me up’ on your user homepage (the screen that shows up when you login). Pick out the Rickshaw Run Winter 2009 from the growing list of adventures and follow the instructions online.

After the 24 hour period to register your urgent desire for a place has passed we will randomly select 70 teams using a bit of electrickery. If you are one of the lucky people to get offered a position you will have three days to pay the entry fee and secure your place. At this time only details of the person registering the team and paying the entry fee will be needed – you can add your team mates once you have signed up.

If we get more than 70 applications for a place, a waiting list will be automatically created and any places not taken up after the three days will be passed on to the top of the waiting list.

There’s a few FAQs here if you have any questions, or drop us a line via the get in touch page and we’ll get back to you.
