Multimedia and PR work experience at Adventurists HQ

By Dan Wedgwood
Fancy some experience in digital gubbins, marketing or PR in the specialist niche industry of 'fighting to make the world less boring'?

Either based at our Bristol HQ or anywhere with an internet connection, you can join the adventure revolution and get tailor made work practise with no tea making duties involved.

We organise splendidly dangerous no-back-up adventures that raise shedloads of money for charity, including tiny cars to Mongolia and mototaxis across South America. We hold afternoon teas with talks from famous adventurers, massive parties, launch events all over the world and we get media coverage on almost every continent. Teams have raised over £2 million for our official charities since it all began in 2004 with a 6 car rally to Mongolia.

Placements are flexible, from two weeks full time at our Bristol (UK) HQ, to working remotely for a few hours a week, and right back round to a full-on month long summer placement. Areas you can get experience in include:

  • Online journalism
  • Multi platform PR and marketing
  • Graphic Design
  • Video editing
  • Web design and development
  • Photography and picture editing

To apply just send Dan an email here explaining which stuff you're interested in and he'll be back in touch in a jiffy.

Who are The Adventurists?
Founded by a bespectacled Englishman called Mr. Tom, we want everyone to flush their guide books and itineraries down the loo, join the fight to make the world less boring and raise loads of money for charity. There are 5 adventures, Afternoon Teas with legends of adventure, a Film Festival, a summer picnic with a heavy dash of debauchery and loads of other boredom fighting stuff planned for this year.
In 2007 The Adventurists won the Shell Livewire Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.

How does it work?
We're a flexible bunch at Adventurists HQ so we're willing to have a chat about how it could work with your particular situation and what you want to get experience in. The key for us is a placement that means you get proper experience and doesn't bore the pants off you which also makes a solid contribution to The Adventurists' splendid plans. You could do:

  • Two weeks full time
  • Flexi time - minimum of eight hours per week for two months
  • Longer internships - full or part time
    • April
    • July and August
You can choose to do this in the Bristol office or remotely if you live far, far away.

Can I get experience in more than one area?
Absolutely. Ideally you'll be interested in at least two from the list of stuff you can do. If you get a spot we'll work with you to make sure you have a crack at the stuff you want to do (as well as the necessary less glamourous stuff we all have to do, what with it being experience of actual work 'n all)

Is it paid?
No, this is all voluntary stuff.

How do I apply?
To apply just send Dan an email here explaining which stuff you're interested in and he'll be back in touch in a jiffy.
