"Butt clenching" stuff on the Autumn Rickshaw Run

By Dan Wedgwood
Five days in and the Autumn Rickshaw Run teams are spread across India three-wheeling their way towards Nepal.

Some teams have been heading up the coast of India and now heading inland while others are trundling right through the middle of the sub-continent.

Team For Tuk's Sake broke their clutch driving up a particularly fierce hill and found themselves pushing the last stretch to reach the top. While sounding understandably weary they were rewarded with a mountain-top picnic and a mighty fine view!

The Dukes of Hyderabad have been posting regular updates about their adventuring exploits. Their favourite road sign read 'cats have 9 lives, you only have 1' along with 'avoid accidents, hospital ceilings are boring'. Fine advice! They've managed to blow their exhaust a couple of times and they had what they described as a 'scrape' with a minicab. They sound in fine spirits still, also noting in their updates that on a visit to the Ellora caves 'a monkey tried to pee on Simon.'

Team What Would Ted Do posted this splendid report from the road:

“in high spirits today in anticipation of reaching Agra the morning of day 7!! Tally ho, chocks away and full steam ahead! BRILLIANT! Loving India.”

In other areas team Goan Doolally took on rush hour in Hyderabad in their tiny tin can of a vehicle and sent news back to the website that it was 'a real butt clenching experience!'

Plenty of other teams are sending in updates too and you can follow the glorious mayhem on the Rickshaw Run live tracking map.
