Monkey Run Morocco
Take a tiny 50cc monkey bike and wobble forth into the Sahara. Then force it over the Atlas Mountains and finish in a dusty cloud of glory just outside Marrakech. Expect sweaty desert, endless plains, snow capped mountains, river crossings, back roads twisting through epic gorges, bike-mangling off road tracks and lots of camels.
We provide the start line and the finish line – in between is 7 days of adventuring perfection. You decide how lost you get, which mountains to push your bike up and where you sleep.
The Monkey Run Morocco is a finely balanced blend of overland chaos set to the soundtrack of other people’s laughter. They’ll laugh at you because you’re pushing a tiny bike up a mountain. You’ll be grinning because you’re riding the world’s most perfectly unsuitable adventure machine.
Give your buttocks the gift of a monkey and Morocco will deliver by the giant spade-load.
The Nuts and Bolts
Your adventure kicks off with pre-adventure beers in Marrakech. The next morning the rider bus delivers you to the start camp tucked away behind giant sand dunes in southeast Morocco. On test driving day we show you the ways of the monkey and teach you how to keep your machine mostly moving when it inevitably breaks down.
There’s a slightly dangerous sand-riding time-trial, a sun-downer session on top of a massive dune followed by the evening launch party. Then the early morning launch ceremony sends you off into the splendid unknown.
After a week of being jabbed in the ribs with the pointy stick of mayhem you roll in to the finish camp in the desert just outside Marrakech. There’s a finish line stage, Chesterfield sofas and a pop up bar and kitchen overlooking the empty plains of Agafay. It all comes together nicely for a finish party setup worthy of the twattiest luxury travel influencer, but full of your fellow fools, all as dusty and smelly as you are, sharing tales of adventuring disaster and tiny bike triumphs.
